There are many prestigious awards that are presented each year at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show that aren’t quite as highly publicized as Best New Product or Manufacturer of the Year. The Global Media Awards is a program that has been part of the SEMA Show itinerary since 2004 and serves as one of the automotive industry’s most important recognitions and indicator of how aftermarket performance and customization is flourishing in other parts of the world.
“We just want to be a great supplier of hot rod and go-fast parts to all of our international partners.” — Steve Whipple, Edelbrock V.P. of Sales and Marketing
A panel of 30 judges representing automotive publications from 19 countries around the world were on hand at the recent 2018 SEMA Show to select products that they feel best resonates with consumers in their home countries. Each judge was able to carefully evaluate the many products that were viewable in the New Products Display at SEMA before selecting the winning exhibitors.
Two judges, Luis Zschocke from Argentina’s New Tune Up Magazine, and Simon Telford from Street Machine Magazine in Australia, both chose the new Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger Kit for the 2018-2019 Ford Mustang 5.0L Coyote as their choice for best product. Norway’s Chet Jetil Sveistrup from AMCAR Magazine selected the new Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 Sequential Port EFI as one of products that Norwegian performance enthusiasts will most likely be looking to buy in 2019.
Another award that you may not have heard of but is equally vital in recognizing the business of aftermarket performance abroad is the Export Achievement Award presented by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Export Achievement Award recognizes U.S. businesses that have benefitted from the DoC export services to expand into new foreign markets. This year, Edelbrock was among three SEMA-member companies who were honored for outstanding export achievement during the International Happy Hour at SEMA 2018. Edelbrock’s V.P. of Sales and Marketing and current member of the SEMA Board of Directors Steve Whipple was on hand to receive the award for Edelbrock.
“Edelbrock is thrilled to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce for its international achievements,” said Whipple during the post-awards celebration. “We’re not here to win awards. We just want to be a great supplier of hot rod and go-fast parts to all of our international partners.”
Joining Edelbrock in receiving Export Achievement Awards at SEMA 2018 was Fox and Race Winning Brands.
